Trivia[]

  • Hrothweard is seemingly based on the real life historical figure of Hrotheweard who was the Archbishop of York from c.904/928 to 931. The fictional character of Hrothweard lives only a few years after the real life figure.
  • In an interview with Christian Hillborg, he revealed that a scene was shot where Hrothweard had his throat slit by Erik and Sigefrid, but ultimately was cut from the final episode.[1]
  • The name Hrothweard comes from Old English. The name is made up of the words hrōþ, which means "fame", and weard, which means "guard, guardian".
