Season 2 of The Last Kingdom was announced by BBC Two on 14 December 2015.[1] Netflix will also be co-producing the second series, after BBC America's exit. The season will premiere on March 16, 2017 and will consist of ten episodes.[2][3] Production began in June 2016 in Budapest [4] and concluded in November 2016.[5] It will roughly adapt the plots of The Lords of the North and Sword Song, the third and fourth novels in Cornwell's The Saxon Stories.[6]
